I started in vertical farming in 2003 with TerraSphere Systems Canada where I headed the horticulture department designing, testing, and patenting of vertical growth systems. Successfully commissioning and running Canada's first commercial controlled environment vertical farm, I achieved GMP certification in 2009 producing leafy greens. Through collaboration with some of the top institutions in North America I worked on projects ranging from the successful manipulation and notable increase of targeted secondary metabolite, transgenic crops using plants as bio factories, and running a proof of concept vertical strawberry farm in Romulus MI. I continued my vertical farming passion by joining Vertical Designs Ltd. where I continued evaluating, designing, patenting and growing in vertical equipment. In 2018 I took a roll at Vertical Designs Aruba as Head of Horticulture doing R&D on the use of outdoor vertical growing equipment in the tropics. I am currently applying my experience to the designing and testing of a vertical soil based controlled environment production system. Through a patent pending process I will bring year round production of high yielding vine ripened June bearing strawberries to markets globally. Capitalizing on sales of off season strawberries, using certified organic regenerative practices, and utilizing abandoned retail spaces, this model empowers local family's to efficiently produce on a local scale filling local market demand year round.
